Masabi’s ‘Ticket Machine in your Pocket’

Masabi’s ‘Ticket Machine in your Pocket’ is a rail mTicketing application that allows commuters to simply and securely purchase and display tickets on the majority of mass-market handsets and smartphones. It is offered through the rail operator or ticket

While it has been possible to purchase rail tickets online for some time, most tickets are still bought at the station where queuing can cause delays and missed trains, particularly at peak times. Masabi’s ‘Ticket Machine in your Pocket’ application allows almost all mobile users to search for and purchase tickets on their handset using a credit or debit card and then display it on-screen as a secure 2D barcode or human-readable ticket. Barcode scanners are already being rolled out by rail operators and the system will support NFC when it becomes more widely available. The system uses Masabi’s award-winning, US government certified, EncryptME security to protect all transactions, and supports the UK rail barcode ticketing standard which Masabi was instrumental in developing.

30.10.2009: Masabi Mobile Train Ticketing in Action
This video shows how easy it is to use the Masabi mobile train ticketing application. A passenger skips the queue by downloading the app, buying a ticket without losing her place, and then going straight onto the train with her barcode ticket displayed on her mobile screen. Next day, she walks straight past the queue to the train.
