WELT HD is the iPad App of Germany's daily newspaper DIE WELT

WELT HD has been selected as iPad App of the year 2010 by the German iTunes store

Why do we apply for the award? We think that there are three reasons which make our app outstanding:

1) WELT HD is a pioneer

WELT HD started as early as May 2010 with the launch of the iPad in Germany and has been Germany's first newspaper on the iPad. Since then WELT HD’s developer team has been in close contact with its readers and has constantly updated the app. WELT HD sets out to be one of Germany’s leading media apps while focusing in particular on excellent content, readability, usability and stability.

2) WELT HD offers a wider range of news and services

WELT HD offers its readers breaking-news, background articles and opinions: From politics to business, finance and technology, to sports and culture. In addition WELT HD offers regional news sections from six cities in Germany, including Berlin, Düsseldorf, Frankfurt, Hamburg, Cologne and Munich.

WELT HD also offers interactive tools and multimedia sections such as an in-depth 24 hours updated stock exchange section, a weather forecast tool, a “photos of the day-section and a sudoku game.

WELT HD wants to engage with its users and has implemented a feedback-service. Every day, WELT HD’s editorial team receives a large number of feedbacks which are thoroughly reviewed and answered by WELT HD’s editors and product managers.

3) WELT HD is successful

WELT HD is ranked among the leading media apps in the German iTunes store and has been downloads more than 150.000 times. With three stars, WELT HD enjoys an excellent rating for a Paid App. We are especially proud that WELT HD has been selected as iPad App of the year 2010 by the German iTunes store.
