Selected Apps to Pitch at AppCircus @ Google Campus.

The AppCircus event in London event is set to be of another great reference for the local app developers to showcase their talent and for the app ecosystem players to learn about new the business opportunities in this exciting and fast-moving space. We are excited to announce the apps and the jury who will be judging the apps on stage at Google Campus on July 4.

AppCircus DevDay Barcelona winner!

Dogfight, a game that has achieved 1,5 million players in 3 months, won the AppCircus Developer Day contest in Barcelona. In the runner-up position, the jury chose DressApp, a pocket closet app that offers users the option to view and manage their clothes throught their mobile anywhere & anytime. DressApp is a new marketing way for shops in Barcelona that allows them to increase sales through an iPhone & Android application. The 11 contending apps at AppCircus Developer Day were all incredibly interesting and the jury had a hard time deciding on a winner.

AppCircus Developer Day took place last 21st of June in UPF Campus de la Comunicació in Barcelona. For the first time in Spain an app developer event included 1-on-1 Speed mentoring sessions with industry experts who provided valuable feedback to developers with an app. The event also included workshops on OpenData and developing on several platforms, as well as spaces for networking.

We would like to thank our more than 150 attendants that declared a 95% overall satisfaction!

AppCircus Lisbon winner!

Niiiws, a national news aggregator for Ipad is the winner of AppCircus in Lisbon. Niiiws brings together national news reports based on articles being shared and engaged with the most on social networks. Users can customize the app to fit their favorite sections and read news that are relevant to them.

Niiiws is new way for iPad owners to access national newspapers. The app allows a systematic use. This is the aspect that the jury of AppCircus in Lisbon (Nicolau Mesquita from Nokia, Nuno Inácio from Vodafone, Oscar Fernández from Mobile Marketing Association, Leonel Filipe Duarte from YDreams and Marco Leal from iMobileMagic) most valued most about Niiiws.

As winners of the AppCircus in Lisbon contest, the Niiiws team were awarded a Nokia Lumia 800 by Vodafone and they are nominated for the Mobile Premier Awards, to be held in Barcelona during the Mobile World Congress 2013

The best Windows Phone app of AppCircus in Lisbon was Walkar, an app to show interesting spots around you. As the best Windows Phone, Walkar was awarded a Nokia Lumia 800 by Nokia.

The AppCircus Lisboa event started with two free training workshops delivered by Nokia and Mobile Marketing Association. Nokia offered a workshop on how to create a Windows Phone app in one hour, by Cristóvão Morgado. Mobile Marketing Association offered the workshop Keys to a successful app and strategies for app monetization, by Óscar Fernández.

Meffys deadline on July 9

June 21th Barcelona AppCircus Developer Day: On stage Jury Revealed

Next June 21 Barcelona will host one of the most awesome events of the season: AppCircus Developer Day, with speed mentoring sessions for developers to learn with experts, workshops and the AppCircus context with 10 great apps competing to be in next year’s Mobile Premier Awards!

Meet the jury at AppCircus in Lisbon!

On June 26 AppCircus arrives to Lisbon to showcase the best apps of the region! In a few days we will communicate the selected apps that will pitch on stage at the Vodafone Portugal Headquarters (Parque das Nações, Lisbon). The jury will reward the following prizes:

  • The overall winner will get a chance to be one of the 20 apps pitching at the Mobile Premier Awards during MWC 2013, plus a Windows Phone 7 offered by Vodafone.
  • The best Windows Phone app wil get a Windows Phone 7 smartphone offered by Nokia.

In addition, the best posting in the Facebook event, or the best person tweeting with the hashtags #appcircus #vodafone during the actual event will be awarded a Vodafone Android smartphone by Vodafone!

Meet the professionals that will be part of the jury on stage:

Nicolau Mesquita

Nicolau Mesquita is the Executive Business Developer Manager in Nokia Iberia since January 2010, he develops strategic agreements for the Iberian market, defines and implements Nokia’s trade and marketing policies for Spain and Portugal. Since 2006, Nicolau had been a Senior Marketing Manager and Senior Business Manager in Nokia, leading successful campaigns.

Nuno Inácio

Senior Product Manager at Vodafone Portugal. More than 10 years of experience on the Telecommunications field, having a large and broad scale knowledge of various areas of this industry, namely roaming, high-level technical flows, mobile payments, apps and developer marketing

Óscar Fernandez

General Manager for Spain, Portugal & LATAM at Adfonic and General Manager for Spain at Mobile Marketing Association, he leads the development of his company for improving their network.

Leonel Filipe Duarte

As YDreams’ Creative Director Leonel has been responsible for conceptualizing and overseeing the fusion of technology and design for emblematic YDreams projects such as the savvy Visitors’ Center for Ciudad Grupo Santander in Spain. Leonel has a degree in Communication Design from Lisbon University’s Faculty of Fine Arts.

Marco Leal

Marco has more than 12 years of international technical, management and executive experience in the mobile products and data services arena. He is currently in the role of CEO at iMobileMagic, a company that he co-founded after holding several leadership roles at other companies. Marco started his career in MobiComp, a startup that has become a reference after its acquisition by Microsoft in 2008. After MobiComp’s acquisition by Microsoft, he took on the role of Principal Group Program Manager inside Microsoft’s Mobile Communication Business division. Marco then left Microsoft in 2011 to start iMobileMagic.

¡En AppCircus en México DF las apps seleccionadas tienen mucho nivel! Estos son los 4 miembros del jurado on stage que seguirán las presentaciones de los 10 desarrolladores seleccionados... ¡y que votarán la app ganadora de AppCircus en México DF, que podrá ser nominada para los Mobile Premier Awards!

Todavía quedan plazas para inscribirse al evento del próximo 13 de junio, y al taller gratuito "Introducción al desarrollo para BlackBerry Playbook en Adobe AIR", impartido por Edgar Parada. Es un taller enfocado a aprender los fundamentos de la tecnología Flex para desarrollar aplicaciones nativas para BlackBerry Tablet OS mediante Adobe AIR. Con esta tecnología se aprovecha el poder de la Plataforma Flash para construir aplicaciones que se comuniquen con diferentes características de PlayBook como la cámara, la geolocalización y el almacenamiento local, entre otros.

Carlos Silva Ponce de León

Carlos Silva Ponce de León es Gerente de Alianzas de Research In Motion (RIM) para México y Centroamérica. Silva es responsable del desarrollo de alianzas con empresas de medios y marcas de consumo que aprovechan la plataforma BlackBerry en sus iniciativas de marketing interactivo. Es Ingeniero en Cibernética y Sistemas Computacionales por la Universidad La Salle y Maestro en Economía de Negocios por el Tec de Monterrey.  Es Profesor del Diplomado de Marketing Interactivo del Internet Advertising Bureau México y el ITESM y es miembro del Consejo Directivo del Instituto del Derecho de las Telecomunicaciones (IDET).

César Salazar

César Salazar es un inversionista y socio fundador de Mexican VC, el fondo de descubrimiento de Silicon Valley enfocado en startups mexicanas. Ha sido emprendedor y diseñador de interacción por más de 10 años. Recientemente, ha impulsado esfuerzos clave para fortalecer los ecosistemas hacker y emprendedor de México. Adicionalmente, es uno de los promotores principales de SuperHappyDevHouse, Hackspedition y StartupWeekend. César es un viajero, un fotógrafo amateur y un entusiasta observador del comportamiento humano.

Lina Elizabeth

Lina Elizabeth es directora de Mercadotecnia y Relaciones Públicas de COSMOS Online, el portal de negocios líder en México y América Latina. Imparte el exitoso Curso “Haciendo Negocios en Internet”. Ha generado importantes estrategias de Mercadotecnia y Relaciones Públicas de la compañía, enfocada a dar a conocer la marca e impulsar los resultados del área comercial. Es supervisora del estudio de "Twitter en México" 2009 y 2010. Ha sido panelista y conferencista en varios eventos, entre los que se destaca el “Seminario Avanzado de Marketing Digital”, “Taller de Redes Sociales para Negocios”, entre otros. Juez de la categoría Campaña Publicitaria de los Reconocimientos Amipci 2010. Integrante del Comité de Mercadotecnia y Publicidad de la Asociación Mexicana de Internet. Con diez años de experiencia en Comercialización, MKT y RP enfocada para negocios en línea.

Ing. Juan Carreón

Es profesor en la Facultad de Ingeniería de la UNAM, donde actualmente es profesor Titular en Economía y Sistemas Inteligentes. Tiene estudios de Ingeniería Mecánica y Eléctrica, y de maestría en Estudios Latinoamericanos (1979-1982). Ha dirigido un centenar de tesis, ha publicado más de 1600 artículos en áreas tecnológicas y económicas, ha sido accionista e inversor en numerosas empresas, además de haber participado en cientos de eventos educativos, tecnológicos y empresariales, tanto a nivel nacional como internacional.
