AppCircus Barcelona cuenta con un jurado integrado por expertos y profesionales del sector móvil. Su criterio y valoración decidirán la app Android ganadora del primer showcase de 2014, el próximo 13 de mayo en la Antigua Fábrica, con el apoyo de Estrella Damm y de Amazon.  Aquí tenéis sus perfiles:

Es Arquitecto por la Universidad Politécnica de Madrid y el IIT de Chicago, con un MBA en la London Business School becada por la Fundación Rafael del Pino. María cuenta con más de 6 años de experiencia como consultor estratégico en The Boston Consulting Group y como Jefe de Proyectos Internacional en Acciona.

Combina una formación técnica en Ingeniería de Telecomunicaciones con un MBA en la London Business School. Ricardo cuenta con más de 15 años de experiencia en los sectores de tecnología y móviles a nivel nacional e internacional.

Licenciada en Arte electrónico y diseño digital, ahora se dedica al periodismo centrado en tecnología, videojuegos, empresas y cultura, en medios como Catalunya Ràdio, TV de Catalunya, el Diari Ara, Radio Marca o Unidad Editorial.

Es un apasionado emprendedor, founder y partner de Mobile Media Content, start-up con dos años de vida creada en Barcelona y que ha desarrollado un innovador sistema de visualización de localidades para apoyar procesos de ticketing. Ha estado involucrado en el desarrollo del ecosistema de AppCircus, participando en la difusión y gestión de la plataforma HackAtHome.

Es directora del Área Digital – Digital Manager en el Instituto Catalán de las Empresas Culturales y profesora en el Postgrado en Gestión y Cooperación Cultural Internacional en IL3 de la Universitat de Barcelona (UB). Además es tertuliana en el programa Generació Digital en Catalunya Ràdio.

JUAN ANTONIO CORRALES

Licenciado en Comunicación Audiovisual y en Periodismo, es confundador de Applicantes, el primer portal de información sobre el mundo de las apps. Además, ha lanzado Theappgency.com, una agencia especializada en marketing y consultoría de apps.

Actualmente responsable de marketing de Incubio, una incubadora de empresas especializada en Big Data, cuenta con una larga experiencia en el campo de contenidos para móviles, especialmente en juegos y apps, que ha desarrollado, licenciado y distribuido en entornos B2B y B2C desde empresas como Gaelco Móviles, el grupo Zed y Softonic. Más recientemente ha liderado el proyecto mSchools de Mobile World Capital Barcelona y GSMA para introducir las tecnologías móviles y el desarrollo de apps en escuelas.

Marketing & Communication Manager en Tappx, Martín Morillo tiene una amplía trayectoria profesional, que incluye responsabilidades en empresas como Ogilvy & Mather, Trademob GmbH, SIME y la red de publicidad mobile Madvertise.

Es fundador y CEO de FAV24, que ha creado la app Goles Messenger, con más de 500.000 usuarios activos. Durante su trayectoria profesional, ha sido creativo en Bassat Ogilvy & Mather y ha sido miembro de la Comisión Tecnológica y responsable mobile del FC Barcelona, entre otras responsabilidades.

November 22th AppCircus on Health with Medica: Meet the Jury!

AppCircus on health with MEDICA will be arriving in Düsseldorf on November 22nd for the second time, giving developers the chance to showcase their apps at the world’s biggest travelling app showcase.

Here below is the jury  who will be judging the apps on stage at Medica Düsseldorf, hall 15, Health & IT Forum. The winner will be invited to present in MEDICA WORLD AMERICA’s (Houston, TX, April 28-30, 2014) and get an opportunity to be nominated for the Mobile Premier Awards 2014, to be held in Barcelona during the Mobile World Congress 2014.

The jury members are:

Tom Mitchell started his trade show career at Messe Düsseldorf North America (MDNA) in Chicago in 1993.  As U.S. Marketing & Development Manager, he was responsible for the promotion of some of the world’s leading industry trade fairs, including drupa, K, Medica, interpack, and boot Düsseldorf.  During this time he also launched the first Internet presence for MDNA as well as the creation of a customized database system for sales and customer management. Tom participates actively in the industry and is a member of the International Association of Exhibitions and Events (IAEE) and Society of Independent Show Organizers (SISO).  He was recently elected to the Board of Directors of the German American Chamber of Commerce of the Midwest.

Mark Waechter is marketer with many years professional and leadership experience in the areas of FMCG (Unilever), Internet (UUNET, WorldCom) and Wireless (T-Mobile). In May 2005 he founded MWC.mobi, a worldwide active management consultancy focusing on Mobile Strategy Development and served clients in over 30 countries on four continents in the past years. Mark is head of the Mobile Marketing Association (MMA) in Germany (locally known as BVDW Section Mobile) and member of MMAs Board of Directors. In 2009 he joined the advisory board of MOCOM2020 and in 2011 he got partner of the METRO GROUP Future Store Initiative as well as member of the Advisory Board of the GS1 Germany MobileCom. Since September 2013 he chairs the advisory board of Germany’s first Master Degree Program in Mobile Marketing at Leipzig School of Media.

Frederic Llordachs-Marqués is the co-founding member of www.doctoralia.com, the global platform for online doctors’ appointments. www.doctoralia.com offers access to the best medical resources on the web; in 2012 www.doctoralia.com had 65 million users around 21 countries in the world (a predicted forecast of more than 100 million users in 2013). Doctoralia’s app was the “2012 MEDICA Apps” winner. With 10 years’ experience in management of medical insurance companies in Spain, they are well established in private health services, broadcasting ICT’s in health and the innovation in the Health Sector. Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery, with a MBA from ESADE, specialized in Medical Management.Frederic Llordachs-Marqués is currently also responsible of eHealth in ACES, www.aces.es (the employers’ private health organization in Catalonia).

Selected Apps to Pitch at AppCircus @ Google Campus.

The AppCircus event in London event is set to be of another great reference for the local app developers to showcase their talent and for the app ecosystem players to learn about new the business opportunities in this exciting and fast-moving space. AppCircus DevDay Barcelona winner!

Dogfight, a game that has achieved 1,5 million players in 3 months, won the AppCircus Developer Day contest in Barcelona. In the runner-up position, the jury chose DressApp, a pocket closet app that offers users the option to view and manage their clothes throught their mobile anywhere & anytime. DressApp is a new marketing way for shops in Barcelona that allows them to increase sales through an iPhone & Android application. The 11 contending apps at AppCircus Developer Day were all incredibly interesting and the jury had a hard time deciding on a winner.

AppCircus Developer Day took place last 21st of June in UPF Campus de la Comunicació in Barcelona. For the first time in Spain an app developer event included 1-on-1 Speed mentoring sessions with industry experts who provided valuable feedback to developers with an app. The event also included workshops on OpenData and developing on several platforms, as well as spaces for networking.

We would like to thank our more than 150 attendants that declared a 95% overall satisfaction!

AppCircus Lisbon winner!

Niiiws, a national news aggregator for Ipad is the winner of AppCircus in Lisbon. Niiiws brings together national news reports based on articles being shared and engaged with the most on social networks. Users can customize the app to fit their favorite sections and read news that are relevant to them.

Niiiws is new way for iPad owners to access national newspapers. The app allows a systematic use. This is the aspect that the jury of AppCircus in Lisbon (Nicolau Mesquita from Nokia, Nuno Inácio from Vodafone, Oscar Fernández from Mobile Marketing Association, Leonel Filipe Duarte from YDreams and Marco Leal from iMobileMagic) most valued most about Niiiws.

As winners of the AppCircus in Lisbon contest, the Niiiws team were awarded a Nokia Lumia 800 by Vodafone and they are nominated for the Mobile Premier Awards, to be held in Barcelona during the Mobile World Congress 2013

The best Windows Phone app of AppCircus in Lisbon was Walkar, an app to show interesting spots around you. As the best Windows Phone, Walkar was awarded a Nokia Lumia 800 by Nokia.

The AppCircus Lisboa event started with two free training workshops delivered by Nokia and Mobile Marketing Association. Nokia offered a workshop on how to create a Windows Phone app in one hour, by Cristóvão Morgado. Mobile Marketing Association offered the workshop Keys to a successful app and strategies for app monetization, by Óscar Fernández.

Meet the jury at AppCircus in Lisbon!

On June 26 AppCircus arrives to Lisbon to showcase the best apps of the region! In a few days we will communicate the selected apps that will pitch on stage at the Vodafone Portugal Headquarters (Parque das Nações, Lisbon). The jury will reward the following prizes:

  • The overall winner will get a chance to be one of the 20 apps pitching at the Mobile Premier Awards during MWC 2013, plus a Windows Phone 7 offered by Vodafone.
  • The best Windows Phone app wil get a Windows Phone 7 smartphone offered by Nokia.

In addition, the best posting in the Facebook event, or the best person tweeting with the hashtags #appcircus #vodafone during the actual event will be awarded a Vodafone Android smartphone by Vodafone!

Nicolau Mesquita

Nicolau Mesquita is the Executive Business Developer Manager in Nokia Iberia since January 2010, he develops strategic agreements for the Iberian market, defines and implements Nokia’s trade and marketing policies for Spain and Portugal. Since 2006, Nicolau had been a Senior Marketing Manager and Senior Business Manager in Nokia, leading successful campaigns.

Nuno Inácio

Senior Product Manager at Vodafone Portugal. More than 10 years of experience on the Telecommunications field, having a large and broad scale knowledge of various areas of this industry, namely roaming, high-level technical flows, mobile payments, apps and developer marketing

Óscar Fernandez

General Manager for Spain, Portugal & LATAM at Adfonic and General Manager for Spain at Mobile Marketing Association, he leads the development of his company for improving their network.

Leonel Filipe Duarte

As YDreams’ Creative Director Leonel has been responsible for conceptualizing and overseeing the fusion of technology and design for emblematic YDreams projects such as the savvy Visitors’ Center for Ciudad Grupo Santander in Spain. Leonel has a degree in Communication Design from Lisbon University’s Faculty of Fine Arts.

Marco Leal

Marco has more than 12 years of international technical, management and executive experience in the mobile products and data services arena. He is currently in the role of CEO at iMobileMagic, a company that he co-founded after holding several leadership roles at other companies. Marco started his career in MobiComp, a startup that has become a reference after its acquisition by Microsoft in 2008. After MobiComp’s acquisition by Microsoft, he took on the role of Principal Group Program Manager inside Microsoft’s Mobile Communication Business division. Marco then left Microsoft in 2011 to start iMobileMagic.

Carlos Silva Ponce de León es Gerente de Alianzas de Research In Motion (RIM) para México y Centroamérica. Silva es responsable del desarrollo de alianzas con empresas de medios y marcas de consumo que aprovechan la plataforma BlackBerry en sus iniciativas de marketing interactivo. Es Ingeniero en Cibernética y Sistemas Computacionales por la Universidad La Salle y Maestro en Economía de Negocios por el Tec de Monterrey.  Es Profesor del Diplomado de Marketing Interactivo del Internet Advertising Bureau México y el ITESM y es miembro del Consejo Directivo del Instituto del Derecho de las Telecomunicaciones (IDET).

César Salazar

César Salazar es un inversionista y socio fundador de Mexican VC, el fondo de descubrimiento de Silicon Valley enfocado en startups mexicanas. Ha sido emprendedor y diseñador de interacción por más de 10 años. Recientemente, ha impulsado esfuerzos clave para fortalecer los ecosistemas hacker y emprendedor de México. Adicionalmente, es uno de los promotores principales de SuperHappyDevHouse, Hackspedition y StartupWeekend. César es un viajero, un fotógrafo amateur y un entusiasta observador del comportamiento humano.

Lina Elizabeth

Lina Elizabeth es directora de Mercadotecnia y Relaciones Públicas de COSMOS Online, el portal de negocios líder en México y América Latina. Imparte el exitoso Curso “Haciendo Negocios en Internet”. Ha generado importantes estrategias de Mercadotecnia y Relaciones Públicas de la compañía, enfocada a dar a conocer la marca e impulsar los resultados del área comercial. Es supervisora del estudio de “Twitter en México” 2009 y 2010. Ha sido panelista y conferencista en varios eventos, entre los que se destaca el “Seminario Avanzado de Marketing Digital”, “Taller de Redes Sociales para Negocios”, entre otros. Juez de la categoría Campaña Publicitaria de los Reconocimientos Amipci 2010. Integrante del Comité de Mercadotecnia y Publicidad de la Asociación Mexicana de Internet. Con diez años de experiencia en Comercialización, MKT y RP enfocada para negocios en línea.

Ing. Juan Carreón

Es profesor en la Facultad de Ingeniería de la UNAM, donde actualmente es profesor Titular en Economía y Sistemas Inteligentes. Tiene estudios de Ingeniería Mecánica y Eléctrica, y de maestría en Estudios Latinoamericanos (1979-1982). Ha dirigido un centenar de tesis, ha publicado más de 1600 artículos en áreas tecnológicas y económicas, ha sido accionista e inversor en numerosas empresas, además de haber participado en cientos de eventos educativos, tecnológicos y empresariales, tanto a nivel nacional como internacional.

Open Cities App Challenge Jury

We are happy to announce the jury members that will select the best apps from the Open Cities App Challenge. Participants of the challenge can tab into the great Open Data resources made availabe by the Open Cites project including data from the cities of Amsterdam, Barcelona, Bologna, Berlin, Helsinki, London, Paris and Rome.

The Open Cities App Challenge is a free entry competiton, and a chance to create and make a mark within the city you live. Your app can be seen and used by millions of European citizens.

Developers can still submit their app now. Its easy!

1. Create your app using Open Data from one of the participating cities
2. Upload it to http://opencities.appcircus.com/
3. Hit Submit!

The winner will receive the Best Open Cities App and a prize of €3,000 in November in Barcelona. The Open Data App Challenge deadline is June 30th, 2012 September 15th, 2012 (extended!!).

Ushman Haque, Pachube

Usman Haque is the founder of Pachube (now known as Cosm.com), a real-time data infrastructure and community for the Internet of Things (acquired by LogMeIn Inc in 2011, where he currently leads the Urban Projects Division); and director of Haque Design + Research (www.haque.co.uk). Trained as an architect, he has created responsive environments, interactive installations, digital interface devices and dozens of mass-participation initiatives. His skills include the design and engineering of both physical spaces and the software and systems that bring them to life. He received the 2008 Design of the Year Award (interactive) from the Design Museum, UK, a 2009 World Technology Award (art), a Wellcome Trust Sciart Award, a grant from the Daniel Langlois Foundation for Art, Science and Technology, the Swiss Creation Prize, Belluard Bollwerk International, the Japan Media Arts Festival Excellence prize and the Asia Digital Art Award Grand Prize.

Francesca Bria, Imperial College London

Francesca Bria is currently a PhD Researcher and Teaching Associate at Imperial College London, in the digital economy laboratory. She is investigating issues ranging from social media platforms, identity systems and digital Cities. Francesca is a member of the Internet of Things Council and a policy advisor and expert for the Province of Rome and the European Commission on ICT, Future Internet and Smart Cities. She is a member of the Expert Group on Open Innovation of the European Commission and of the IOT-A (Internet of Things Architecture) stakeholder community. Francesca is a social scientist with an MSc in digital economy and innovation from the University College of London, Birkbeck and she is an advocate for open technology, digital commons and collaborative creativity.

Dr. Rufus Pollock, Open Knowledge Foundation

Dr. Rufus Pollock is co-Founder and Director of the Open Knowledge Foundation, a Shuttleworth Foundation Fellow, an Associate of the Centre for Intellectual Property and Information Law at the University of Cambridge and a fellow of the RSA. He has worked extensively as a scholar and developer on the social, legal and technological issues related to the creation and sharing of knowledge and acted as an official adviser on open data to several governments.

After graduating with a first in Mathematics (and a distinction in part III) from the University of Cambridge in 2004 he co-founded the Open Knowledge Foundation, a not-for-profit which works to promote open knowledge — any kind of information from sonnets to statistics, genes to geodata, that can be freely used, reused, and redistributed. In parallel with his activities at the OKF, he has also worked as an academic in economist: in 2008 he obtained a PhD in Economics from the University of Cambridge and from 2007 to 2010 he was the Mead Fellow in Economics at Emmanuel College, University of Cambridge. He remains an Associate of the Centre for Intellectual Property and Information Law at the University of Cambridge. Other activities include: co-founding the Open Rights Group in 2005 and serving on its board until 2008; serving as director of the UK branch of the Foundation for a Free Information Infrastructure from 2004-2006 during the crucial vote on the software patents directive, and as policy adviser to Creative Commons UK from 2003-2007.

Martin Bryant, The Next Web

Martin Bryant is Managing Editor at The Next Web, a leading online publication covering Internet technology, business and culture. Martin has a particular interest in European startups, and spends much time travelling the continent to meet the people behind the technologies that will shape the future.

Dietmar Offenhuber, MIT

Dietmar Offenhuber is a research fellow in the Senseable City Lab at the Department for Urban Studies and Planning at MIT. He has backgrounds in architecture, urban studies and interactive media; his research interests include the representation and organization of urban infrastructures. Dietmar holds degrees from TU Vienna and the MIT Media Lab. He was key researcher in the Ars Electronica Futurelab and the Ludwig Boltzmann Institute for Media.Art.Research and Professor in the Interface Cultures program at the Art University Linz. His work has been shown, among other places, at ZKM Karlsruhe, Ars Electronica, the Sundance Film Festival, Secession Vienna, the Seoul International Media Art Biennale and Arte Contemporaneo, Madrid.

Es socio fundador y actual presidente del Clúster de Tecnologías de Información CITI Tabasco, responsable por parte de la Iniciativa Privada del proyecto del Parque Tecnológico Villahermosa ubicado en las instalaciones del Tec Milenio Campus Villahermosa, y consejero de COPARMEX Tabasco.

Nos complace anunciar que hemos nombrado a los 4 miembros del jurado que presidirán AppCircus en nuestro evento de la Universidad de Sevilla el próximo 19 de abril 2012. RUTH BAREÑO

Ruth Bareño es Vicepresidenta de MMA España, y Directora General de madvertise España desde septiembre 2011, coincidiendo con la llegada de esta red publicitaria europea para móviles  España. Anteriormente, Ruth Bareño era Responsable  de Publicidad en el Móvil para Orange Advertising Network España, y también ha trabajado en Tempos 21 (Grupo Telefónica), y en el departamento comercial grandes cuentas de Vodafone. Es licenciada en Ciencias en Ciencias Económicas y Empresariales y Máster en Economía de las Telecomunicaciones.


ÓSCAR GUTIÉRREZ

Óscar Gutiérrez es Developer Relations Manager – Iberia en Nokia desde septiembre de 2010: su misión es atraer nuevos talentos para desarrollar apps relevantes en la plataforma Nokia, y ayudarles a identificar el modelo de negocio óptimo para generar ingresos. Anteriormente había trabajado como Spanish Manager del proyecto Vodafone 360 Apps, y como ingeniero de I+D en Vodafone.

NICOLAU MESQUITA

Nicolau Mesquita es Executive Business Developer Manager en Nokia desde enero de 2010, sus responsabilidades incluyen el desarrollo de acuerdos estratégicos para el mercado ibérico y la definición e implementación de las políticas comerciales y de marketing de Nokia en España y Portugal. Desde 2006, Nicolau Mesquita había ocupado puestos de Senior Marketing Manager y Senior Business Manager en la empresa Nokia, desarrollando existosas campañas. Anteriormente había trabajado en PT Comunicações.

MARÍA JOSÉ JIMÉNEZ RODRÍGUEZ

María José Jiménez Rodríguez se licenció en 1996 y se doctoró en 2003 en Matemáticas por la Universidad de Sevilla. Adscrita al  Departamento de Matemática Aplicada I de la Universidad de Sevilla,  ha impartido docencia en la Escuela de Ingeniería Técnica Agrícola y en la Escuela Técnica Superior de Ingeniería Informática (en la actualidad).  Ha publicado una docena de artículos en revistas de investigación, ha realizado más de 30 comunicaciones a congresos y ha participado en el comité científico de 3 congresos internacionales. Actualmente co-preside la organización de la 17ª Conferencia Internacional sobre Geometría Discreta para Imágenes Digitales, DGCI 2013, que tendrá lugar en Sevilla en Marzo de 2013.
