The first edition of the Apps4bcn contest has been a huge success, gathering a total of 86 mobile applications. Several topics were covered by the participating apps: from geolocation-based solutions to improve urban mobility, to those that focus on leisure and culture, gastronomy and sports apps, apps that provide information to citizens and tourists, apps that encourage public participation using mobile devices, etc. The engagement of tech entrepreneurs can contribute significantly to the creation and improvement of services for citizens.

OnTheBus

OnTheBus is an accessible app for mobile devices with Android operating system that guides from a point of origin to a destination by using public transport. Given a destination, the application offers a set of optimal paths to choose from.

Enllaç

Enllaç is an application that helps you find the the best route using Barcelona public transportation. It shows the best route for all main public transportation groups in Barcelona: TMB (bus, ibus, metro, tram, nit bus), taxi, bicing and by foot. The design is focused in daily use showing all info at a glance so it helps users to decide what route is better for them.

Fesedit

Fesedit is a car share platform aimed to help people to move around their city in an easy way. Fesedit allows drivers to offer their unused seats to passengers that are likely going to move through a similar route. This way, they can help to reduce the CO2 emissions while meeting new people. The platform can be easily accessed and used within this app.

A special mention goes for this app, which received the most online votes.

This application is the user interface of a completely automated taxi booking system. No human interaction is required. Once the user request to hire a taxi, the system looks for an available taxi in the neighborhood in order to provide service in less than 3 minutes. The App has been particularly valued by foreign people due to the fact that enables them to hire a taxi in the city without knowledge of the language and the streets. By-Taxi is currently active lets you in 10 towns in Spain including Alicante, Barcelona, Girona, Madrid...
