El sector de las apps apunta hacia la Smart TV

El sector de las apps ha encontrado en la televisión un nuevo nicho de negocio para seguir creciendo. Los gigantes tecnológicos incursionan desde hace tiempo en tecnologías para Smart TV, con lo que necesitan aplicaciones para complementar con interactividad la programación de los canales de televisión.

La televisión del siglo XXI se mira con el móvil o la tablet. El móvil es el nuevo canal de comunicación, por lo que los gigantes tecnológicos trabajan en llevar contenido en todos los canales, televisión y móvil. Ernesto Arroyo, responsable de Tecnología de AppCircus y doctor por el Instituto Tecnológico de Massachusets (MIT), explica que “empresas especialistas en el desarrollo de apps traen a la televisión digital su experiencia para que, el momento en el que vemos nuestro programa favorito, se enriquezca con aplicaciones”.

De hecho, según Arroyo, buena parte de los canales de televisión tradicionales han desarrollado sus propias aplicaciones para que los espectadores puedan interactuar con su parrilla de programación, tanto en tiempo real como fuera del momento de emisión. Estas aplicaciones abarcarían desde “comentar jugadas de un partido hasta apps para descubrir contenidos relacionados con los programas que permitan participar y dar opinión a cambio de premios”.

Las posibilidades de comunicación y oportunidades de negocio no se quedan aquí. Los nuevos canales amplían “el nuevo mercado de las aplicaciones”, porque “requieren apps que permitan acceder a los contenidos en ‘streaming’ que ofrecen”. Por tanto, “las apps para Smart TV han dejado de ser un producto de futuro para convertirse en una realidad, en la que han pasado de ser utilizadas en segundas pantallas a convertirse en el canal principal para acceder a los medios”.

AppCircus Barcelona abrirá la gira AppCircus 2014 y mostrará las principales tendencias en el ecosistema de aplicaciones móviles para dispositivos Android, ya que, de cerca de las 200 aplicaciones presentadas, se seleccionarán las diez más innovadoras y punteras, que tendrán la oportunidad de ser presentadas por los desarrolladores ante un jurado de expertos de primer nivel.

La aplicación ganadora en cada AppCircus recibirá una nominación para participar en los Mobile Premier Awards, considerados los premios de referencia del sector de las aplicaciones móviles, además de interesantes premios por cortesía de Amazon, Tappx y Theappgency que se pueden consultar en este link.

Asimismo, AppCircus Barcelona contará con la intervención de Ignasi Elías, director de Fav 24, creadores de la app Goles Messenger, con 500.000 usuarios activos y considerada la aplicación deportiva del año.

Récord de participación en AppCircus Barcelona a unos días del cierre de inscripciones

AppCircus Barcelona ya tiene más de 130 apps inscritas, una cifra récord en nuestra historia, a una semana del cierre del plazo máximo para las inscripciones. El evento, que cuenta con el apoyo de AmazonEstrella Damm y Applicantes y Tappx reunirá las mejores apps para Android del momento en el escenario de la Antigua Fábrica Damm el 13 de mayo.

Si tienes una app Android, puedes participar con dos sencillos pasos, antes del 30 de abril:

1) Sube una o varias apps Android al portal de desarrolladores de Amazon. Vídeo ilustrativo de cómo subir la app:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vaR02dlCVnA&feature=player

2) Una vez que la app o apps estén disponibles en amazon.es (el tiempo estimado desde la fecha de subida de la app es de 3 días) inscríbelas en appcircus.com/event/barcelona-1

The Mobile Premier Awards pitch videos are online!

It’s been a while since we talked about the Mobile Premier Awards, but we’re back with some great news.

For each application who made it to the finals, we made a 6 to 7 min. video. In each video you can see live footage of the pitch and the Q&A round with the Jury. It’s the perfect way to get to know more about each application, its stats and figures, the people behind it and their motivation.

AppCircus Barcelona cuenta con un jurado integrado por expertos y profesionales del sector móvil. Su criterio y valoración decidirán la app Android ganadora del primer showcase de 2014, el próximo 13 de mayo en la Antigua Fábrica, con el apoyo de Estrella Damm y de Amazon.  Aquí tenéis sus perfiles:

Es Arquitecto por la Universidad Politécnica de Madrid y el IIT de Chicago, con un MBA en la London Business School becada por la Fundación Rafael del Pino. María cuenta con más de 6 años de experiencia como consultor estratégico en The Boston Consulting Group y como Jefe de Proyectos Internacional en Acciona.

Combina una formación técnica en Ingeniería de Telecomunicaciones con un MBA en la London Business School. Ricardo cuenta con más de 15 años de experiencia en los sectores de tecnología y móviles a nivel nacional e internacional.

Licenciada en Arte electrónico y diseño digital, ahora se dedica al periodismo centrado en tecnología, videojuegos, empresas y cultura, en medios como Catalunya Ràdio, TV de Catalunya, el Diari Ara, Radio Marca o Unidad Editorial.

Es un apasionado emprendedor, founder y partner de Mobile Media Content, start-up con dos años de vida creada en Barcelona y que ha desarrollado un innovador sistema de visualización de localidades para apoyar procesos de ticketing. Ha estado involucrado en el desarrollo del ecosistema de AppCircus, participando en la difusión y gestión de la plataforma HackAtHome.

Es directora del Área Digital – Digital Manager en el Instituto Catalán de las Empresas Culturales y profesora en el Postgrado en Gestión y Cooperación Cultural Internacional en IL3 de la Universitat de Barcelona (UB). Además es tertuliana en el programa Generació Digital en Catalunya Ràdio.

JUAN ANTONIO CORRALES

Licenciado en Comunicación Audiovisual y en Periodismo, es confundador de Applicantes, el primer portal de información sobre el mundo de las apps. Además, ha lanzado Theappgency.com, una agencia especializada en marketing y consultoría de apps.

Actualmente responsable de marketing de Incubio, una incubadora de empresas especializada en Big Data, cuenta con una larga experiencia en el campo de contenidos para móviles, especialmente en juegos y apps, que ha desarrollado, licenciado y distribuido en entornos B2B y B2C desde empresas como Gaelco Móviles, el grupo Zed y Softonic. Más recientemente ha liderado el proyecto mSchools de Mobile World Capital Barcelona y GSMA para introducir las tecnologías móviles y el desarrollo de apps en escuelas.

Marketing & Communication Manager en Tappx, Martín Morillo tiene una amplía trayectoria profesional, que incluye responsabilidades en empresas como Ogilvy & Mather, Trademob GmbH, SIME y la red de publicidad mobile Madvertise.

Es fundador y CEO de FAV24, que ha creado la app Goles Messenger, con más de 500.000 usuarios activos. Durante su trayectoria profesional, ha sido creativo en Bassat Ogilvy & Mather y ha sido miembro de la Comisión Tecnológica y responsable mobile del FC Barcelona, entre otras responsabilidades.

July 4th AppCircus London @ Google: Meet the London Jury!

The upcoming AppCircus @ Google Campus event is set to be of another great reference for the London-based app developers to showcase their talent and for the local app ecosystem players to learn about new the business opportunities in this exciting and fast-moving space.

Here below is the jury to select the apps and who will be judging the apps on stage at Google Campus on July 4th. AppCircus London winners of previous editons include SwiftKey, Masabi and Echo Echo. Check this The Next Web review on the latest AppCircus in London we organised in November 2011.

Developers can register their app here to enter the AppCircus @ Google Campus London contest. Registration deadline is June 19th. The winning app will be nominated for the next edition of the Mobile Premier Awards in Barcelona.

The app business seeks new talent in Lisbon

Next June 26th, Vodafone Headquarters in Parque das Nações (Lisbon) will be hosting the AppCircus Lisbon event, where developers and start-ups will have the opportunity to demonstrate their ideas and talent in creating innovative apps. AppCircus Lisbon is open to students, professionals from the mobile industry, and independent developers.
The event is sponsored by Vodafone and Nokia and starts with two training workshops by Nokia  and Mobile Marketing Association: Nokia is offering a workshop on building apps with Windows, and Mobile Marketing Association will deliver a workshop on marketing your app. Both workshops are from 16:00 – 17.30  and are free to attend but registration is required here.
To participate at the AppCircus in Lisbon comeptition, register your app here by June 11. Among all registered apps, 10 will be chosen to pitch their app on stage, and will have 3 minutes to explain what their app is about and what the business model is behind it, in front of an expert jury panel and the public. The winning app will receive a nomination to participate at the Mobile Premier Awards to be held in February 2013 in Barcelona.

AppCircus @ Circus Mashimus at SXSW 2012

Through a partnership with Mashery we will be present again this year at the Circus Mashimus in SXSW Interactive 2012. We are ready to be part of one of the premier conferences for technology and innovation in the world. South by South West is clearly a must attend event in your agenda!

We will be showcasing mobile apps from all over the world at the Circus Mashimus tent, you will get to see apps that have presented at the Mobile Premier awards and AppCircus winners from 2011 as well as the latest apps applying to pitch for this event. AppCircus finalists will be showcased for an hour on Saturday and Sunday, March 10th-11th, with a final showcase on Monday, March 12th from 2-4 pm.

March 10th and 11th: You will get to see each day a couple of the 2011 Mobile Premier Award winners, we will give each mobile application 3 minutes to pitch. So you wont get bored hearing a long speech, Mashery will be providing some beverages and popcorn to enjoy the show. We might have a few surprises for all the attendees.

We will be showcasing apps from 14:00 to 15:00. So make sure to be ready to see the mobile showcase we are preparing with past AppCircus winners from around the globe.

March 12th: The big show, we will open up the “call for apps” until the 21st of February. So make sure to sign up at AppCircus, upload the information for the application you want to pitch and then apply for [email protected] Mashimus, Austin event.
