This will be the jury for the Spotlight on NOKIA – Mexico City

AppCircus is ready to open the show for the Spotlight on NOKIA during the Congreso Universitario Movil TELCEL, 10 apps will pitch in front of the jury and audience and will be introduced to the industry. This is the jury that will analyse them.

The team from NOKIA Mexico will be at hand to judge every one of the Qt/Symbian applications on stage for the mobile showcase, we are glad to have such a broad angle of experts on hand to select the winner. They are in no particular order:

David Pons

Born in France. Bachelors degree in Business Management, specializing in sales and marketing. Has 11 years experience in the tech industry, eight of them in the Telecommunications space in countries such as Venezuela and Mexico. Joined NOKIA Mexico in July 2010 as Director of Solutions and Services.

Martha Llamas.

Graduated with a Bachelor’s in Business and Administration specializing in marketing. She has 12 years experience in the information technology industry in all the areas of marketing and public relations. She is the head of marketing for mobile applications for NOKIA in Latin America.

Antonio Abarca.

Has a bachelor’s degree in marketing, he has 15 years experience in the music industry. Start’s to work in NOKIA in 2009 has Head of Music Manager to launch the “NOKIA Music Store” and also launch the project Comes with Music for Mexico, Argentina and Chile. He is now part of the OVI Publish team, making business development for that department for Latin America. He is now part of the ecosystem team for Mexico as Developer Manager.

Omar Avilés.

More than 15 years of experience as system engineer implementing IT solution for pharmacy, financial and IT industries,  Broad experience in roles like business analysis, technical analysis, software architect for technical solutions. Experience in Windows platforms (Servers, Desktop, Mobile and Cloud). Deliver technical knowledge to sales and business development teams. As a Microsoft Employee, Omar is a Software Architect for ISVs and Windows Phone 7 Champ (Subject Matter Expert).

These industry experts will choose the best app, and as you know, the winner will get a round trip ticket and hotel for London, to attend the NOKIA World Conference on the 26-27 of October.

The top 5 runnerup applications will get a NOKIA E7 smartphone and all participating apps that get more than 500 downloads before October 31st, get a NOKIA C3-00.

The ring leaders for AppCircus in Mexico City.

AppCircus is ready to start the 2nd stop for the mobile road show in Mexico, the event will be held during the Congreso Universitario Móvil TELCEL, 10 apps will pitch in front of the jury and audience and will be introduced to the industry. Eric Tecayehuatl

Blogger from FayerWayer. In touch with the technology scene in Mexico based in Puebla and traveling all over the country to cover events and also give keynote on tech conferences.

Ruben Rincón.

He is the head of public realtions for technology of NOKIA in Latin America. He is a consultant with expertise in development technologies in [email protected], WRT and Qt; he has presented in more than 35 international events as the spoke person for NOKIA’s technology platform.

Carlos Silva.

He is a Senior Alliance Solutions Manager at Research In Motion in Mexico. Responsible for Business Development with ISVs around the BlackBerry Platform in Mexico and Central America. Liaison with carrier customers, ISVs, content providers and government agencies for all initiatives related to BlackBerry applications.

Spencer Hoffmann.

Young entrepreneur focused on business development. Founder of Yamblet, a company that focuses in developing mobile applications on tablets and smart phones.

Juan Carreon.

Professor at the Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico, assigned as professor for Analysis and design of Information Systems, Needs and Resources in Mexico, Economy and Intelligent Systems. Has written more than 600 papers in all these areas. He has been an investor and advisor for several companies and is currently involved with many Startups from Mexico.

TheHand – won the showcase in Bogotá.

Ten mobile applications pitched on stage at the Auditorio Principal in Fundación Telefónica yesterday. So a winner will have the opportunity to be nominated for the Mobile Premiere Awards, which are held during the Mobile World Congress.

A big thank you goes out to the main organizers at Adobe User Group Colombia, this is our first event in Bogotá and it was a great vibe from mobile community in Colombia. All the mobile developers and entrepreneurs got a chance to look at a mobile showcase that is traveling around the world and finishing at the Mobile Premier Awards 2012 in Barcelona, hopefully the winner from this event can be on stage.

After all the App Artists made their pitch, the jury had to decide which application would be going home the winner from AppCircus in Bogotá, we hope that everyone enjoyed the live presentations, but the panel needs to make their choice who comes out the winner based on the apps overall achievements. So the winning app is:

TheHand came on top at the AppCircus in Bogotá.

It is really interesting to see that we are seeing a trend in mobile applications using 3D animations, the winner from Paris also had technology related to 3d effects and using them for media consumers. TheHand is focusing on the hearing impaired and also for people that do not understand sign language, they where selected as the overall winner for providing a technology that can be used globally.

TaxiSeguro another notable app.

The other app that deserve’s a mention is TaxiSeguro who did a great pitch and also made a good case in point about their business model which let the jury members with a tough decision to do. We would also like to thank the rest of the participants for being on stage to pitch their app and showcase their creation to their peers in AppCircus.

The finalists for AppCircus in Bogotá.

It has been a couple of interesting day’s seeing how the mobile community has participated in our first event in Colombia. AppCircus in Bogotá will happen on  August 11th, for those people that want to register to take part and have a closer look at the apps during the mobile showcase you can register here. We are really happy to collaborate with the Adobe User Group Colombia with the support from Fundación Telefónica and Bluevia to make this event a reality and to make a mobile app competition in South America; we are looking forward for feedback from developers and attendees.

AppCircus is building momentum in Africa – heading to Nairobi.

A trend is definately happening in countries where mobile application and services are starting to become the main form of communication, but also setting up mobile platforms for transactions and getting in to citizen’s daily lives with services that enable deficiencies from the governments/institutions. It is with great pleasure to be partnering with iHub to setup an AppCircus in Nairobi which will happen on September 10th.

This will be a great opportunity for the mobile and web community to get together, while enjoying the innovation from their peers during the mobile showcase. We are working to get together 10 of the best mobile applications from Nairobi and be on stage to pitch for 3 minutes, get some feedback from local experts and land a chance to be part of the Mobile Premier Awards in Barcelona in February in 2012 during the Mobile World Congress.

Another city added to the AppCircus LATAM tour – Queretaro

We are pleased to be hosting an event in Queretaro campus of the Instituto Tecnologico de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey (ITESM) and also working with the local organizer which is the regional technology incubator of inteQsoft. Mexico will play a central role in the LatAm tour.

Mexico will have it’s own mobile road show with the help from TELCEL, we will be hitting several Mexican cities from North to the South. We saw the great turnout for Villahermosa and we are happy to bring more events to one of the biggest capital’s in the world. So with no hesitation we are setting up an AppCircus during the Congreso Móvil Universitario TELCEL. After the Spotlight on NOKIA, we are organizing a cross-platform show case for all mobile platforms to have a host to present to a big crowd. The event will take place on September 7th.

Spotlight on NOKIA showcase in Mexico City.

Our last Spotlight showcase was in February, so it is with great pleasure to announce that we will be hosting a Spotlight on NOKIA in Mexico. The event will take place during the Congreso Universitario Móvil Telcel 2011 on September 6th, which will be in one of the biggest universities in Mexico City, the Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico. This will become one of the biggest conference’s dedicated to mobile for the research and University community.

NOKIA is setting a mobile showcase so Qt applications can pitch on stage and compete with peers in a pitch showdown, each app will have 3 minutes on stage and then get some feedback directly from engineers and executive team from NOKIA Mexico. This is a great opportunity for mobile startups/entrepreneurs that develop under the open source platform to have a spot on the main stage of the conference.

Sticky – is the winner from AppCircus in Rotterdam – Mobile Unconference

Yesterday Rotterdam was full of mobile developers and apps that gathered at De Machinist for a mobile showcase of local talent from the Netherlands. The evening started with a Barcamp style conference and then worked it’s way to an AppCircus to close the event. A big thank you to the Mobile Unconference organizers.

The jury gathered on stage to listen to the App Artists presentations of 3 minutes and some Q&A plus feedback from the judging panel. After an hour of show, the judges decided that the winner for AppCircus in Rotterdam is:
