AppCircus London Jury

AppCircus is coming  to London on November 16th at TechHub, the community and workspace reflecting the vibrancy and global outlook of the technology scene in the Shoreditch/Old St area.

The AppCircus will gather London’s talented developers to showcase their apps in front of a jury of industry experts. The winner receives a nomination for the Mobile Premier Awards, to be held in Barcelona during the Mobile World Congress 2012.

The deadline to participate is the 2nd of November (midnight GMT). It is easy to apply with your app, you just have to click here.It’s FREE!

Here’s the jury that will evaluate the apps on stage and give valuable feedback to the developers pitching their apps:

Lauren Sarno, Developer Marketing Manager for the NAVTEQ

Lauren Sarno is Developer Marketing Manager for the NAVTEQ Network for Developers (www.NN4D.com), the developer relations program for the world leader in map data and location content.  Globally, she is responsible for co-marketing support for NN4D members, marketing communications, social media and public relations. For the EMEA region, she also manages events. Lauren has worked in partner and developer relations at ARM and the Symbian Foundation.

James Parton, Head of BlueVia Marketing, Telefonica

A Chartered Marketer, who is working hard to ensure Telco’s suck just a little less everyday. James leads marketing for BlueVia, the new developer platform from Telefonica. In addition James is a global board member of the Mobile Entertainment Forum and chairs the Technology Market Interest Group of The Chartered Institute of Marketing, the worlds largest organisation for professional marketers. James is a regular panellist, speaker, blogger, industry awards judge and lecturer. Throughout a 20 year career in the tech, web and mobile sectors, James has successfully developed and deployed over 25 major products and services, featuring 20 UK market firsts, including BlueVia, O2 Litmus, MMS, mobile video, mobile music downloads, and the UK DVB-H Broadcast TV trial in Oxford during 2005.

Chris Bourke, Managing Director, Mobext UK
Chris Bourke is Managing Director of Mobext in the UK and a veteran of the mobile marketing industry having founded the first mobile marketing agency in the UK in 2000. Chris is a passionate advocate of mobile media and an author of several papers on mobile marketing strategy. He has developed award winning campaigns for global brands and now uses his skills and experience to help Havas Media clients exploit mobile to improve the effectiveness of their marketing communications.

Sanj Matharu , Principal Manager Developer Marketing in Vodafone
Sanj Matharu drives the developer outreach and developer content for the mobile applications and devices at Vodafone. Prior to Vodafone, Sanj had a long career at Symbian starting in developer tools development, managing Symbian Signed and then onto engaging with developers via OEM developer programs. He then moved to Samsung and created the Samsung Mobile Innovator developer program – Samsung’s first large scale foray into engagement with the developer community.

AppCircus is the largest competition and showcase that travels through more than 50 cities around the world in order to promote and reward the best apps. At TechHub London will present the 10 best apps that were selected by an online jury of experts.

A couple of days only now for the AppCircus coming to Paris for the 2nd time! This event will happen during The Future of Communications Conference, to be held in the Centquatre on 23rd June, will address these essential issues of our digital future.

Reimund Schmald, Marketing Manager, Mobile Division, Nuance Communications Inc. EMEA Central and Eastern Europe.
Reimund Schmald is Marketing Manager in the Mobile Division of Nuance Communications Inc. responsible for  EMEA Central and Eastern Europe. He has been in the speech technology industry for 15 years joining Nuance in 2003 through acquisition. While at Nuance has held a number of  Sales and Business Development positions and in January 2011 became  responsible for the Marketing of the Handset based mobile technologies and solutions. Previously Reimund held several sales positions in the semiconductor and imaging industry. He received a diploma in semiconductor physics from Aachen Technical University, Germany. Reimund is married and has two children.

Baptiste Benezet, Directeur Exécutif, Associé d’Applidium.
Baptiste Benezet est directeur exécutif et associé d’Applidium, éditeur de services mobiles, filiale du groupe faberNovel. Baptiste a développé, depuis plus de 6 ans, une expertise dans la conception, la gestion et l’accompagnement de projets et produits innovants, notamment sur supports mobiles. Baptiste est également en charge du développement Produit chez faberNovel.

Claudio Vandi, Project Manager at Silicon Xperience.
Claudio is an expert in Usability, Cognitive ergonomics and Semiotics and an active member of the European network of Living Labs. He is project manager for Silicon Xperience at Silicon Sentier and Phd candidate in Cognitive Psychology at LUTIN Userlab, where he also coordinates Living Lab activities. In 2010, he lead a study on the usage of interactive tablets by older adults. He has been member of the jury for the Galileo Masters competition in Europe and Parisapps in France. In 2011 he co-founded Flipbulbs.com.

Philippe Nikolov, Chef de projet et chargé de mission Carrefour des Possibles.
Pendant ses études de mathématiques et de gestion il s’intéresse au développement de l’internet et collabore dans différentes start-up pour des projets de développement web. Il intègre ensuite une société spécialisée dans la fourniture de composants de mesures pour des expériences en laboratoire, il est spécialisé sur les micros PC (norme PC 104) et collabore sur des développements de programmes d’acquisitions. La connaissance des start-up et l’ouverture sur la recherche l’amène à rejoindre la Fing pour s’occuper du Carrefour des Possibles en région Ile de France, évènement national qui présente 10 projets d’usages innovants tous différents. Un principe : naviguer dans différents univers pour partir peut-être avec un 11e projet en tête. Partis sur l’idée de construire un robot de téléprésence au Carrefour des Possibles pour les personnes qui ne pouvaient se déplacer, il est amené Grâce à Cyril Fievet, journaliste de la Fing spécialiste de la robotique à rencontrer les différents acteurs, start-up et laboratoire en robotique. Convaincu du développement proche de la robotique personnelle, il lance en 2008 la Rencontre et le Challenge RobotCité. Il participe à la création du premier syndicat de robotique personnelle, Syrobo et au lancement du cluster robotique du pôle de compétitivité Cap Digital. Il s’intéresse au développement de la robotique par les usages.

Martin Duval, Founder & CEO of bluenove.
bluenove is now the French leader in Open & Collaborative Innovation consulting and services with major corporate customers such as Orange, BT, PagesJaunes, L’Oréal, EDF, PPR, Unedic, La Poste, Microsoft, Chanel, SUEZ Env, SEB, etc.

bluenove also invests in R&D through its InnovNation Serious Game project supported by the French Ministry of Industry in partnership with the INRIA lab and ParaSchool.

From 2001 to 2008 at Orange, Martin has managed innovative projects through Corporate Venturing and partnerships with innovative startups in areas such as mobile applications, mobile/web convergence, m-Health, and mobile music. In 2006 he developed an Open Innovation program, the ‘Orange Start Up Program’ to partner with start-ups and VCs in the area of Web 2.0.

Prior to Orange, Martin has started his carreer in the aerospace industry at Eurocopter/EADS, then worked in the Accor group before to spend three years in Change Management consulting at Cambridge Technology Partners.

Martin holds a Master in Applied Physics (Aix-Marseille University and the University of Sussex, UK), an MBA from University of Chicago Loyola and a Master in Management of Information Systems and Telecom Networks from ESSEC & Telecom Paris

Mobile Premier Award Winners Success Stories: Waze

During the preparals of the 5th Mobile Premier Awards, taking place on February 14th 2011 during Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, we’re launching this new series asking previous MPA winners about their success story after winning the award in February 2010.

Here are the milestones and success story of Waze – MPA 2010 winner in Innovation to the Best Emerging Startup awarded by the MobileMonday Community.

1. Went from 500,000 to 2.3 Million drivers in 2010!
2. NBC-2 started using Waze citizen traffic feeds as their broadcast traffic segment.
3. Secured a $25MM Series B round of financing.
4. Won Best Technology at Le Web and several other awards.
5. Added citizen traffic information from Twitter + Got more social with Facebook and 4SQ road goodies.
6. Launched Driving Groups Waze: Using groups and gaming to get geodata.
7. Hosted the Big Caravan- Thousands of Wazers headed to Burning Man Waze 2.0.
8. Launched LATAM.
9. Launched India.
10. Now tackling commuter traffic and reducing congestion.
