Masabi – wins the AppCircus in London – Telco 2.0 Conference.

After a great evening of mobile pitching that happened during the Telco 2.0 Conference, we would like to thank everyone that showed up for AppCircus in London, we saw some great pitch’s from European mobile developers. The App Artists have done a great job at creating the next generation of mobile experiences, it is important to give the stage up for up and coming mobile apps that will surely give us more surprises in the future.

As always App artists did not disappoint, we saw some pretty interesting presentations being thrown on stage. At the end of the first day the jury had a tough call to make. So the judges decided on:

Jury members for the AppCircus in London

We’re very excited to have some of the most knowledgeable and experienced guys in mobile on our jury panel for the AppCircusat at the New Digital Economics Executive Brainstorm & Developer Forum that is taking place from May 11th to 13th at the Guoman Tower Hotel in London.

The AppCircus is a FREE event, from 6pm to 10pm on the 12th of May for up to 200 developers and the  delegates from the New Digital Economics event. Reimund Schmald – Marketing Manager Mobile Division, Nuance Communications Inc.
Reimund is responsible for  EMEA Central and Eastern Europe. He has been in the speech technology industry for 15 years joining Nuance in 2003 through acquisition. While at Nuance has held a number of  Sales and Business Development positions and in January 2011 became  responsible for the Marketing of the Handset based mobile technologies and solutions. Previously Reimund held several sales positions in the semiconductor and imaging industry. He received a diploma in semiconductor physics from Aachen Technical University, Germany. Reimund is married and has two children.

Daniel Gurrola – VP Strategy & Business Development, Orange Group
Daniel has over 18 years professional experience bringing together strategic thinking and operational hands-on delivery. He has strong telecommunications industry experience covering wide ranging topics. His leadership posts include serving as the Chairman of the Chief Strategy Officers Group (CSOG) for the GSMA and he is also a founder of the Wholesale Applications Community alliance, bringing together leading global operators and telecommunications industry players to develop a global platform for applications. His international profile includes working in 12 countries and the ability to speak 5 European languages.

Chris Barraclough – MD, Chief Strategist, Founder STL Partners
MD and consulting lead for STL and key report author. 20 years experience in strategy, marketing and finance; 12 years in TMT. During this time he has worked extensively in both the wired and wireless sectors, including stints as Marketing Director at MCI WorldCom UK and Orange Group. He specialises in strategic analysis and proposition development and has developed strategies for new products, services and businesses for several operators and vendor companies in the UK and across EMEA and North America. Additional consulting experience with Bain, Gemini Consulting, Cambrian, Oxford Strategic Marketing, Burlington. MA, Oxford University.

James Parton – Head of Marketing for BlueVia, the new developer platform from Telefonica
James heads currently the Marketing for BlueVia, the new developer platform from Telefonica, he is MEF Global Board Director, and  chair of the Chartered Institute Of Marketing’s Technology Marketing Interest Group. James is a regular panellist, speaker, blogger, industry awards judge, lecturer, and co-founder of the CIM’sTechnology Marketing Interest Group and “Bedford TweetUp”, a regional Twitter networking gathering. Throughout his 20 year career in the tech, web, and mobile sectors, James has successfully developed and delivered over 25 major products, featuring 20 UK market firsts, including BlueVia, O2 Litmus, MMS, mobile video, mobile music downloads, and the UK DVB-H Broadcast TV trial in Oxford during 2005.

The apps are out! App artists presenting at AppCircus in London.

The online jury has decided on the best 10 mobile apps to present their creations at the New Digital Economics Executive Brainstorm & Developer Forum that is taking place from May 11th to 13th at the Guoman Tower Hotel in London. AppCircus is proud to get this finalists the opportunity to pitch on stage right after the Mobile Apps 2.0 event.

The AppCircus is a FREE event, from 6pm to 10pm on the 12th of May for up to 200 developers and the  delegates from the New Digital Economics event. We could not be more excited about the diversity of apps that will be showcased at the AppCircus in London.

The selected apps that will be presenting are:

LifeShow Player. This mobile application upgrades a TV or tablet into a remotely controlled picture frame, simply and rapidly.

OneGratis Loyalty Card. An app that takes those paper based Buy 10 get 1 free loyalty cards and puts them on your smartphone.

Congestion Charge Check. A tool for commute drivers to the City, application you can check whether you are in the London Congestion charging zone and in at a time when you need to pay.

Masabi Ticket Machine. This application allows almost all mobile users to search for and purchase tickets on their handset using a credit or debit card and then display it on-screen as a secure 2D barcode or human-readable ticket.

ColorMatchGirl. This app is loaded with features to help you look your best. Made for Women of All Colors ColorMatchGirl was designed as a tool for any woman and every woman!

ChargeLocator. Locate your Electrical Vehicle Charging Station efficiently and quickly! get a charge!

acrossair. An augmented reality browser application that functions as a navigator to get you to the nearest location of your choice. It is also packed full of additional information on points of interest near and around you.

Conde Nast Traveller Guides. Simply point your phone in a direction and it will bring up images of nearby attractions, which you can narrow down by type. You can also use GPS to pull up venue locations on a map.

Kliqed. This app is developed to help busy people meet with their friends by taking into account their calendar time availability. It works in the background sending kliqs that suggest times when friends will be free to meet.

ArtSpotter. It’s about what’s going on in the art world: Galleries, public art, street art, fairs, popup shops, studios, student shows and everything in between. Art can be found anywhere: Artspotter will work all over the world.

London calling! All mobile developers sign up for Telco 2.0

It is time to go to The City so we can sample the great innovations coming from the London mobile scene. We have partnered with the Telco 2.o conference, so we can give their audience a good mobile show from apps built by local developers. We will be showcasing on the 12th of May at the Guoman Tower Hotel in London.

There is nothing quite exciting as making events in cosmopolitan cities, where we get applications from all over the globe that are launching in England, Europe and all over the globe. Lots of things have been happening in London this couple of months so we want to show the best apps it has to offer. Being at Telco 2.o Conferene is a great way to be part of the booming mobile ecosystem from England.

Our first Silicon Valley winner – WordLens.

We can only give a huge THANK YOU! To all of you who showed up for AppCircus in Palo Alto, we saw some great pitch’s from mobile developers from Silicon Valley and beyond (coming from France). The crowd at Telco 2.0 was really curious to know what kind of apps where going to be showcased at AppCircus.

And the App artists did not disappoint, we saw interesting and hilarious presentations being thrown on stage. We promise to bring a hoop and some more fire for next time, if the organizers permit maybe a Lion or two (just kidding), this would not have been possible with out the great hosts from STL Partners.

After some time off our road trip to Southern Mexico, we are heading up north to Silicon Valley to setup the mobile showcase at the Telco 2.0 conference in Palo Alto on April 6th. AppCircus is excited coming to the Valley!

Announcing the 1st AppCircus HTML5 competition

In 2011 we are being part of many influential conferences in the world, in February we where part of the Mobile World Congress with Spotlight on BlackBerry and we just finished the AppCircus @ SXSW and are packing our bags and tent to to hit Palo Alto for the Telco 2.0 conference on April 6th.

We are collaborating with the folks from Zeewe to offer you the first HTML5 Web App competition.

The contest will have the following structure:

  • All Apps must be submitted by March 28th.
  • The deadline to confirm your available to pitch is April 1st.
  • The selection will be done by an online Jury which will decide who gets to pitch and the audience will vote at the event to select the winner.
  • The winner app will be announced during the evening of AppCircus in Palo Alto, April 6th.
  • The winner will be pitching at the event
  • The winner app will Win $2000 cash prize if the HTML5 app is available in the Zeewe marketplace or $1000 if the HTML5 app is not on Zeewe.

IMPORTANT: All apps must be written in Mobile HTML5 , and run on iPhones and/or Android phone. The participating apps will have to pay accommodation and their flight or transportation.

Setting up a tent in Silicon Valley – AppCircus in Palo Alto.

This 2011 is setting up to be a great year for mobile applications, so we are already looking forward to setup our mobile showcase in Silicon Valley. AppCircus is heading to Palo Alto, we have partnered with New Digital Economics Executive Brainstorm & Developer Forum AMERICAS to make a great event in the Valley.

This is the 11th time New Digital Economics is being held in San Francisco and AppCircus is proud to be part of this event so Startups, Entrepreneurs and companies in the Telecommunications industry can view the mobile showcase being performed by mobile applications developers in all the different platforms.

Looking forward to seeing all the latest creations and the new opportunities that will be the result of the networking of the participants. This will be a great chance to look at the new mobile ecosystem being created world wide.

There will be 200-300 app developers at the event and up to 200 senior execs from the Communications, Media and Entertainment industries.

A jury will decide which Apps will get a chance to pitch in AppCircus, to be eligible to participate you must register in AppCircus.
